Padmasri Hills residents protest as drinking water shortage continues
Residents of Padmasri Hills Colony in Bandlaguda, Hyderabad, protested against the ongoing drinking water crisis they have faced for nearly a decade. The protest, led by colony president Umamaheshwar Reddy, involved residents holding empty pots and placards highlighting their plight. Despite repeated complaints to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and authorities, the issue remains unresolved. Residents blame water tanker mafia for depleting groundwater levels and demand action against illegal operators. The water board, while acknowledging the problem, stated that the proposed reservoir site was unsuitable due to the location's ridge. They are exploring temporary solutions. The residents are demanding immediate action and have threatened to intensify their protest if their grievances are not addressed.12:46 PM Mar 10, 2025 IST
