8 kg ganja smuggled from Odisha seized in Hyderabad; Three arrested
Hyderabad: Enforcement authorities have seized 8 kilograms of ganja being transported in a car from Odisha to Hyderabad. Three individuals were arrested, and three mobile phones along with the vehicle used for transportation were confiscated.
The accused, originally from Kalimela in the Malkangiri district of Odisha, had moved to Hyderabad seeking work. They were employed in centering jobs in the construction sector but found the income insufficient to meet their needs.
In search of better earnings, they used their contacts in Odisha, where ganja cultivation is prevalent, and began transporting the substance to Hyderabad for local distribution.
During this period, one of the accused, Harishankar, established contact with Hussain, a painter from Assam living in Malkajgiri. They struck a deal to sell ganja in Hyderabad and share the profits equally.
Following their plan, the group brought 8 kilograms of ganja from Malkangiri by car and reached the Thorrur area, under the jurisdiction of Himayatnagar Excise Police Station. As they were about to deliver the consignment to Hussain, they were caught by Ranga Reddy district enforcement officers.
The operation was led by CI Subhash Chander and officers Balraju, Akhil, and Ravi, under the supervision of AES Jeevan Kiran. Upon inspection, officials recovered 8 kilograms of ganja, three mobile phones, and the car used for transport. CI Subhash Chander confirmed the seizure and arrests.
