File complaints against fraudsters: HYDRAA to Ameenpur lake victims
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Commissioner, AV Ranganath, has expressed strong displeasure over irregularities happening around the Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu lake. Victims of the lake's expansion have complained to HYDRAA about individuals demanding money in exchange for their inclusion in the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed to address the issue. These individuals, operating under the name 'Ameenpur Pedda Pond’s Flood Victims - JAC,' are allegedly collecting Rs. 1,000 as a membership fee and Rs. 500 per square yard from affected landowners. Commissioner Ranganath has warned of strict action against those involved in these activities and urged victims to file police complaints. He has also emphasized that no one should rely on intermediaries or pay money for assistance related to the lake. HYDRAA is currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the full tank level (FTL) of the lake, comparing the affected area with various data sources. A committee comprising experts from JNTU, IIT colleges, and other institutions will be formed to confirm the FTL, with the entire process expected to be completed within two to three months. The Commissioner assured the public that the FTL determination will be conducted transparently and urged them to remain patient until the boundary of the lake is finalized.11:03 PM Mar 01, 2025 IST
