Hyderabad: On July 19, 2025, a lorry overturned under the Panjagutta Metro station on the road from Mythrivanam to Panjagutta, causing significant traffic disruption during peak hours. The overturned vehicle blocked a large portion of the road, delaying commuters.

Hyderabad Traffic Police issued an advisory on social media, warning the public about the obstruction and advising the use of alternate routes to avoid congestion.

On X (formerly Twitter), the police stated: “#HYDTPinfo #TrafficAlert. A lorry fell under Panjagutta Metro station on the road from Mythrivanam to Panjagutta. @HYDTP and @hydcitypolice are working to clear it. Please cooperate and use alternate routes to avoid congestion. #Trafficdiversion”

Hyderabad City Police also urged commuters to take alternate routes and assured that arrangements were being made to clear the obstruction as soon as possible.

Previous Overturning Incidents in Hyderabad

On July 17, 2025, a lorry carrying tomatoes overturned near PV Express Highway Pillar No. 216 in Rajendranagar, Ranga Reddy district, causing a major traffic jam. The vehicle, transporting tomatoes from Shamshabad to the Gudimalkapur market, lost control due to overspeeding. Both the driver and cleaner sustained minor injuries.

Boxes of tomatoes spilled across the road, attracting locals who collected them in bags. Traffic police used a crane to remove the overturned vehicle and cleared the produce to one side, restoring traffic flow.

On May 2, 2025, an Ashok Leyland truck overturned near the Hydernagar U-turn close to JNTU Metro Station, blocking the road and causing a traffic jam. A JCB was used to remove the vehicle, and traffic was regulated afterward.

On December 16, 2024, a diesel tanker overturned near Mettuguda Railway Station in Secunderabad, spilling thousands of litres of fuel. Emergency services responded promptly and warned motorists to avoid the area due to hazardous conditions.

In a separate incident, an oil spill on the Kushaiguda-Nagaram road caused slippery conditions leading to about 25 two-wheeler riders skidding and sustaining minor injuries. The spill occurred when a tanker traveling from ECIL to Keesara leaked fuel onto the road.
