34 days into SLBC tunnel search: Kerala cadaver dogs return to aid in rescue efforts
On March 27, 2025, rescue efforts continued at the SLBC tunnel in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district, where eight workers were trapped in an accident on February 22. The newly appointed Special Officer, Shiva Shankar Loteti, reviewed the progress of the rescue operation, which has been ongoing for 34 days. The operation involves a large team of personnel from both the central and state governments, utilizing a Tunnel Boring Machine and specialized equipment to remove soil and floodwater from the tunnel. Cadaver dogs from Kerala were deployed on Thursday to aid in the search for the remaining six missing workers. The body of a second worker was recovered on March 25, bringing the total number of recovered bodies to two. The Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, has instructed officials to continue their efforts to locate the missing workers and has prioritized the operation.
