GHMC allocates Rs. 8,440 crores for Hyderabad's growth & development in 2025-26
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) council approved a budget of ₹8,440 crore for the financial year 2025-26. This was approved during the 10th General Body meeting held on January 30th, 2025. The meeting also approved the revised budget for the previous year at ₹8,118 crore. Mayor Vijayalakshmi expressed gratitude for the state government's support and emphasized the need for cooperation between officials and public representatives. Concerns were raised by corporators regarding sanitation, streetlights, and development in peripheral areas. There was also discussion about recovering unpaid taxes from corporate schools. The importance of revenue generation was stressed. The GHMC Commissioner assured that sports facilities and parks would be improved and that the street lighting issue would be resolved soon. MP Etela Rajender highlighted the need for the council to gain public trust and urged for more government funding and prioritization of welfare programs. Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shobhan Reddy called for collective efforts to improve city services and stressed the importance of increasing sanitation staff.
