CBI arrests GST Superintendent of Medak for accepting Rs. 8,000 bribe
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Ravi Ranjan, a Superintendent of GST in Medak, Hyderabad, Telangana, for accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000. The complainant had been seeking the revocation of his suspended GSTIN, which was suspended due to non-filing of returns by his proprietorship firm. Ranjan demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 for the revocation. The CBI apprehended Ranjan red-handed while he was accepting the bribe on March 21, 2025. Following his arrest, Ranjan was produced before a court on March 22, 2025. Subsequent searches at Ranjan’s residence, office, and native place in Jehanabad, Bihar, led to the recovery of incriminating documents. The investigation is ongoing.02:58 PM Mar 22, 2025 IST
