Public health authorities have issued an advisory urging residents to take precautions against mosquito-borne illnesses such as malaria, dengue, and chikungunya.
Citizens are advised to install mosquito screens on doors and windows, use repellents, and sleep under mosquito nets. Households should ensure drains are kept clean to avoid water stagnation, and septic tanks must be covered with mesh to prevent mosquito breeding. The public is reminded to observe “Friday-Dry Day” every week to eliminate stagnant water around homes.
To prevent water-borne diseases like acute gastroenteritis, jaundice, and typhoid, residents are advised to consume only filtered or boiled water and wash hands regularly, especially before and after meals. Consumption of stale or street food should be avoided during the monsoon.
With the risk of airborne infections such as viral fevers and influenza, residents are advised to avoid close contact with symptomatic individuals, use hand sanitizers, and cover their nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing. Those experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, sore throat, headache, or body aches should visit the nearest government health facility. In case of medical emergencies, citizens can contact 108 Ambulance Services for assistance.
