Water tankers are back on roads as Nizampet residents face water woes
Hyderabad is facing water shortages earlier than usual, with residents in several areas experiencing dry taps and relying on water tankers for supply. The issue is attributed to disruptions in the water supply from the Masjid Banda area, affecting localities like Kondapur, Shantinagar colony, Ahmed Nagar, Ghazi Banda and Anand Bagh. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has acknowledged the problem and is working on solutions. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the officials to develop a comprehensive plan for the city's water needs over the next 25 years, including allocating 20 tmcft of water from the Mallanna Sagar project. Despite these efforts, residents are facing difficulties, with some having to dig wells up to 1,500 feet deep to access water. The water shortage is a recurring problem in Hyderabad, especially during the summer months.02:23 PM Jan 20, 2025 IST
