Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi marked the start of Sankranthi with Bhogi celebrations at KBR Park on Monday. Women and children participated in large numbers early in the morning. The event was led by Telangana Jagruthi founder and BRS MLC K Kavitha, who lit the bonfire and extended festival wishes to the people of Telangana.

The celebrations included traditional rituals. Young women and girls gathered around the fire, children were showered with โ€œbhogipallu,โ€ and treats were distributed. Donations of rice and essentials were made to the Haridas. Gangireddula performances entertained attendees, and cultural programs were part of the event.

In a separate event, BRS working president KT Rama Rao attended Bhogi celebrations at LB Nagar MLA D Sudhir Reddyโ€™s residence on the city outskirts. He extended Sankranthi greetings, wishing prosperity and unity among people.

Prominent leaders, including MLAs T Harish Rao, D Sudhir Reddy, Padi Kaushik Reddy, Mutha Gopal, Bandari Laxma Reddy, former MLAs Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Balka Suman, and BRS leader P Karthik Reddy, participated in the bonfire ceremony.
