Telangana Government announces 2.5% DA hike for RTC employees
The Telangana government has announced a 2.5% Dearness Allowance (DA) increase for RTC employees, effective immediately. This comes with an additional financial burden of ₹3.6 crore per month for the RTC. The government also announced the launch of the Indira Mahila Sakthi Buses, aimed at empowering women by providing them with opportunities for financial independence. In the first phase, 150 buses will be introduced on a rental basis through Mandal Mahila Samakhya Sanghams, with the ultimate goal of 600 buses operated in partnership with women's associations. The buses will be distributed across 150 Mandals, each with a bus owned by the local women's association. The pilot project will begin in Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, and Mahbubnagar districts. This initiative is seen as a way to alleviate the demand for public transport, particularly for female passengers, while simultaneously promoting women's involvement in the transport sector. This marks the first time in India that women's associations will be allowed to lease buses to RTC, empowering them to become owners of the vehicles.12:06 PM Mar 07, 2025 IST
