Hyderabad-born activist Zahack Tanvir thanks India after release from Saudi prison

Zahack Tanvir, a Hyderabad-born activist, was released from detention in Saudi Arabia after spending nearly a year imprisoned. Tanvir, arrested in December 2023 for allegedly posting anti-Pakistan content on social media, was initially sentenced to five years in prison. He was later exonerated by the Supreme Court. Tanvir attributes his release to the tireless efforts of Indian diplomats, specifically thanking the Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar and diplomat Suhail Ejaz Khan. He highlights the frequent visits and unwavering support provided by the Indian Embassy officials during his detention. He alleges that the Saudi police acted upon a complaint from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and based their case on his social media posts criticizing Pakistan's policies.
