Formula E case: KTR challenges CM Revanth Reddy to take lie detector test
K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former Minister, was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for seven hours on January 16, 2025, regarding an ongoing investigation into the Formula E race. The investigation focuses on a ₹55 crore transfer from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to Formula E Operations Limited (FEO) without proper approvals. KTR has denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated. The ED is investigating potential violations of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), specifically looking into unauthorized fund transfers abroad. The case also involves the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which is investigating the alleged misappropriation of funds related to the Formula E race. KTR has been critical of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging that the cases involving the ED and ACB are politically motivated. He challenged Reddy to take a lie detector test to prove his innocence. The Supreme Court has dismissed KTR's petition to quash an FIR filed by the ACB regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds in the Formula E case, upholding the Telangana High Court's decision. The investigation has raised concerns about potential financial mismanagement related to the Formula E race, and the authorities are looking into the matter.07:59 PM Jan 16, 2025 IST
