Social media-fueled extremism: How ‘Rama Rajyam Army’ was built and busted
Five people have been arrested in Hyderabad, India, for assaulting the chief priest of Chilkur Balaji temple. The assault was carried out by members of a group called 'Rama Rajyam Army,' which was recruited online via a YouTube channel. The leader of the group, Kovvuri Veer Raghava Reddy, used the channel to promote Hindu Dharma and promised a salary of Rs. 20,000 to those who joined the group. The group members met in person, contributed money for uniforms, and then traveled to the temple to demand financial support and recruitment assistance from the priest.
