Goshamahal Road cave-in disrupts traffic; GHMC Mayor orders urgent tender for repairs
On January 28, 2025, a section of the road between Goshamahal and Darussalam in Hyderabad caved in, causing damage to vehicles and disrupting traffic. Though no casualties were reported, the incident highlighted ongoing concerns about the area's deteriorating infrastructure. Local residents blame the collapse on the improper management of a nearby nala and the impact of heavy vehicles on the road. Mayor Vijayalaxmi Gadwal visited the site and assured the public that repair work would be expedited. She also stated that tenders for the repairs would be invited within a day. This incident is not the first of its kind in the area. Similar road collapses have occurred previously, including a crusher lorry getting trapped in January 2025. The ongoing nala construction, which is only 50% complete despite its extended duration, is a major concern for residents. They fear that the unfinished nala poses a serious risk to vehicles, especially school buses. Residents have repeatedly raised concerns with officials regarding the infrastructure issues, but progress has been slow. They have threatened to protest if the authorities fail to address the problems promptly.09:29 AM Jan 29, 2025 IST
