Hyderabad residents demand road repairs at Topkhana, Goshamahal amid traffic chaos
Hyderabad: Residents of Hyderabad have expressed concerns over the deteriorating condition of a road at Topkhana, leading towards Alaska Goshamahal. The road was dug up a month ago for civil works, but despite the completion of those works weeks ago, the road remains in poor condition. This has led to severe traffic congestion, with vehicles traveling in the same lane in both directions due to one side of the road being damaged.
Speaking to Hyderabad Mail, Lokendra Singh (@HYDTrafficMan) highlighted the ongoing issues. "The road at Topkhana, leading towards Alaska Goshamahal, was excavated a month ago for civil works. Since then, the entire stretch has been damaged. Although the work was completed weeks ago, the road remains in poor condition. As a result, traffic from both directions is using the same lane, causing significant chaos and congestion," he said.

He further pointed out that the road serves as a major route for traffic coming from Nampally, Asif Nagar, Gandhi Bhavan, Abids, and Koti, heading towards Begum Bazar, Goshamahal, Puranapul, Afzalgunj, and Jiyaguda. "During peak hours, especially in the evening, this stretch experiences heavy congestion due to the high volume of traffic and nearby wholesale markets," he added.
Lokendra Singh has urged the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other authorities to address the issue promptly. "It is crucial to repair and resurface this road as soon as possible to ease traffic flow and ensure safety," he said.
He also raised the issue on social media, addressing GHMC officials, "The road at Topkhana Goshamahal was excavated a month ago due to civil works, but proper resurfacing has not yet been done. Bidirectional traffic within a single lane is causing significant congestion and increasing the risk of accidents."
In response, GHMC's official Twitter account acknowledged the issue, stating, "Dear Citizen, we regret the inconvenience. The area engineering team has been informed to inspect the site and update the status of the issue."
The residents now await a swift resolution to the traffic and safety concerns on this important stretch of road.
