Hyderabad: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Telangana State backed the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) in their indefinite strike. TJUDA are protesting the state government's failure to meet their long-standing demands.

The strike will include junior doctors from all 34 government medical colleges in Telangana. This group consists of undergraduates, postgraduates, house surgeons, and senior residents.

The association has listed six major unresolved issues: timely release of stipends and its regularization through the Green Channel, implementation of G.O.59 for stipend hike, inadequate basic infrastructure in Govt. Medical Colleges, regular annual faculty recruitment calendar, stipend irregularities in private medical colleges, and scholarship and fee reimbursement delayed for minority students.

Even after two important meetings in June 2025 with the Health Minister and Health Secretary, no clear solution was found. Frustrated by inaction, TJUDA chose to go ahead with the strike.

TJUDA urged the state to immediately intervene and hold talks to prevent a full-blown healthcare crisis. "Our demands are legitimate, and the government must act now," a TJUDA representative said.
