Noida man arrested by Hyderabad police for multi-state stock fraud, Rs. 14.6L loss
A 27-year-old man, Shiva Shankar, was arrested in Noida for his involvement in a stock trading fraud. He allegedly defrauded victims by promising high returns on investments in the stock market through social media platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. Shankar, along with his accomplices, used a common modus operandi: they initially showed fake profits, allowed partial withdrawals to gain trust, and then lured victims to invest more before blocking withdrawals and communication. The police seized several items from him, including mobile phones, cheque books, and debit cards. The Hyderabad Cybercrime police issued a warning to the public to be cautious of online stock trading offers promising unrealistic returns. They advised verifying such investment opportunities before sharing any personal or financial information.
