A portion of the roof of an under-construction tunnel for the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project in Telangana, India collapsed, trapping at least eight workers. Rescue operations involving the NDRF, Army, NHIDCL, Singareni Collieries, and SDRF are underway, but progress has been hampered by a blockage in the last 200 meters of the tunnel. The incident has been attributed to water seepage caused by a crack in the geological line. Prime Minister Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have expressed concern and offered assistance. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been overseeing the rescue operations.
