Residents of Shaikpet, Hyderabad, are demanding urgent road safety measures on the Shaikpet-Manikonda Road following a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl. The road lacks essential safety features like dividers, speed breakers, and caution boards, making it accident-prone. Social activist Ajay Maryala has highlighted several areas needing improvement, including: Road widening: The road is narrow at several points, leading to traffic congestion and accidents. Removal of obstructions: Debris, encroachments by commercial establishments, and protruding tree branches are obstructing the road. Addressing waterlogging: A leaking water line is causing water to pool on the road, creating a hazard for two-wheeler commuters. Maryala has appealed to the authorities, including the Zonal Commissioner, GHMC, and Manikonda Municipality, to take immediate action to address these issues and ensure the safety of commuters on the Shaikpet-Manikonda Road.
