Telangana Govt fully prepared to tackle HMPV: Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha
Telangana's Health Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha reassured the public about Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), stating that the virus is not new and has been spreading globally since 2001. While acknowledging the rising number of HMPV cases in China, the minister emphasized that Telangana is prepared to handle any situation and there are currently no reported cases in the state. HMPV is a respiratory virus causing symptoms similar to a cold or flu, spreading through respiratory droplets. The minister urged the public to follow preventative measures, including wearing masks, frequent handwashing, and avoiding crowded places. He also cautioned against the spread of misinformation on social media. The Telangana government has issued guidelines for HMPV prevention, urging people to follow basic hygiene practices and seek medical advice if they experience symptoms. The health department is closely monitoring the situation and is in communication with the Union Health Ministry.10:00 AM Jan 07, 2025 IST
