Young entrepreneur launches travel-based parcel delivery app ‘DeleMate’ in Telangana
Hyderabad: A new mobile application, DeleMate, developed by 22-year-old Tarak from a remote village near the Telangana-Andhra border, is gaining attention for offering a travel-based alternative to traditional courier services.
The app connects people who need to send parcels urgently with travelers heading in the same direction. This allows travelers to earn money by delivering items along their route, while senders benefit from faster and more flexible delivery options.
Speaking to Hyderabad Mail, CEO Tarak said the app has received a strong initial response, with over 1,000 users logging upcoming trips in the first week. DeleMate is available for download at www.delemate.com.
Tarak shared a recent example that illustrates the concept clearly. Mahesh, who was traveling from Tirupati to Hyderabad for a job interview, used the DeleMate app on a friend’s suggestion. After entering his travel details, he was contacted by Ramesh through the app, who asked him to carry a cover to Hyderabad. Mahesh agreed, delivered the parcel, and earned a small payment, helping to offset his travel costs. The sender, Ramesh, was able to get his package delivered on time.
Unlike traditional courier services or urban delivery startups that rely on dedicated logistics networks, DeleMate operates by utilizing people already on the move. Whether it’s a trip from Vijayawada to Hyderabad or Anantapur to Delhi, users can register their travel plans on the app. Others looking to send items on the same route can reach out to them directly.
To use the app, users must register with their name, address, and identification details. Travelers input their upcoming journey, and potential senders along the route can contact them. Payment is released to the traveler only after the parcel is delivered safely.
To address concerns about safety and trust, DeleMate includes several verification features. Traveler profiles include a photo and identification details, and senders must upload photos of the parcel for verification at the time of delivery. The app also provides real-time tracking, and payments are processed only after successful delivery.
