In Tellapur, the Tellapur Neighbourhood Association (TeNA), in collaboration with the Tellapur Municipality, hosted a large-scale yoga session that drew over 200 residents, including women and children.

Volunteers from the Sri Guru Viswaspurthi Trust led the participants through yogasanas, Surya Namaskars, and pranayama techniques. The event was held to encourage regular yoga practice as a means to improve daily life.

Speaking at the gathering, TeNA President Eshwaragari Ramana highlighted the benefits of yoga, stating, “Yoga promotes overall health and helps maintain balance in life. We encourage everyone to make it a part of their daily routine.” Sangareddy, Commissioner of the Tellapur Municipality, also took part in the session.

The sessions began with loosening exercises from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, followed by yoga practice until 10:00 AM. A plantation drive was held after the yoga session at both locations, with saplings provided by the organisers. Participants were asked to bring their own yoga mats and water bottles. Drinking water refill stations were available on-site.

Madhulika S. Chowdary, environmental activist and founder of Dhruvansh Organisation, said, “Yoga is not just a practice; it is a journey toward inner freedom and well-being.” Indrani, a yoga instructor from Hyderabad, added, “Harith Yoga means practicing yoga in natural surroundings, which helps reduce stress, enhances focus, and strengthens our connection with the environment.”

International Yoga Day is observed globally on June 21. It was adopted by the United Nations in 2014 following a proposal by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was first celebrated worldwide in 2015.
