Woman jumps from moving train to escape assault near Kompally
Hyderabad: A 23-year-old woman was injured after jumping from a moving MMTS train to escape an attempted sexual assault near Kompally on March 22, 2025.
The woman, a resident of Medchal and an employee at a private company, had traveled to Secunderabad to get her mobile phone repaired. After the repair, she boarded train No. 47227, which was headed to Medchal, at 3:00 p.m. She was traveling in the ladies’ coach when, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the two other female passengers in the coach deboarded at Alwal, leaving her alone.
Shortly afterward, a man, around 25 years old, approached her and attempted to assault her. In a desperate bid to escape, the woman jumped from the moving train. She sustained several injuries, including bleeding from her head, chin, right hand, and waist. Her train ticket was also lost in the incident.
Passersby contacted emergency services, and the woman was taken to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad, where her condition is reported as stable. She later told authorities that she would be able to identify the assailant if she saw him again.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Secunderabad have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
