Why 14-year-old killed 10-year-old girl in Hyderabad: Complete details of Kukatpally murder case
Hyderabad: A 14-year-old boy who killed the minor girl in Kukatpally is a big fan of crime thrillers and used to watch a number of crime thrillers. The motive, police say, was a coveted cricket bat. He had been planning to steal the bat for three days.
The Cyberabad Police solved the brutal murder of a 10-year-old girl in Kukatpally, revealing a chilling premeditated plan by a minor boy, Child in Conflict with Law(CCL). The accused, a friend of the victim’s brother and a known visitor to the house, had meticulously outlined the theft and murder in a handwritten note recovered by investigators. The minor boy, police described, as an avid consumer of crime thrillers, had recently purchased a mobile phone without his parents’ knowledge three months prior to the incident.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at the family’s residence in Sangeet Nagar when the vicitim girl was home alone during the school holidays. Her father discovered her body lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds when he returned home for lunch around 12:50 PM, prompting an immediate Dial 100 alert and police response.
According to Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanthy, the minor boy had coveted an MRF-brand cricket bat belonging to the victim’s younger brother and had been planning the theft for three days after his request for the bat was refused. On the day of the crime, he entered the house through the terrace, located the bat, and was attempting to leave when minor girl, who was watching television, noticed him and made a hue and cry and tried to alert the neighbours. When the boy tried to leave the house, the girl caught his shirt. Subsequently, in an attempt to escape, he pushed her, due to which she fell down, following which the boy attacked her with a knife that he had brought from home.
In a frenzied attack, the boy pushed her, due to which she fell down, following which the boy stabbed the girl multiple times with a knife he had brought from home, cutting her throat and ensuring she could not identify him. He was questioned on the very first day of the investigation. His name was included as one of the suspects in the list prepared by the investigation team. The boy initially misled investigators by concocting a story about hearing cries at 10:30 AM.
The investigation breakthrough came when police recovered the handwritten note in English detailing the theft plan and contingency measures, including the instruction to eliminate any witnesses. The forensic evidence and the recovered note eventually led to his confession.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner stated, “The CCL has been apprehended and will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. The seizures include the murder weapon, the stolen cricket bat, and the bloodstained clothes he attempted to wash.” The case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
