HYDERABAD: Voters can use 12 valid photo ID documents for Jubilee Hills bypoll

HYDERABAD: In preparation for the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency by-election on November 11, 2025, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO) R.V. Karnan has announced that voters whose names appear on the electoral rolls but do not possess an Electors’ Photo Identity Card (EPIC) can still cast their votes by presenting any one of the 12 approved photo identity documents.

The following documents have been recognised as valid alternatives by the Election Commission of India:

  1. Aadhaar Card

  2. MNREGA Job Card

  3. Passbook with photograph issued by Bank or Post Office

  4. Health Insurance Smart Card issued by the Ministry of Labour or Ayushman Bharat Health Card

  5. Driving Licence

  6. PAN Card

  7. Smart Card issued by Registrar General of India under National Population Register (NPR)

  8. Indian Passport

  9. Pension document with photograph

  10. Service Identity Card with photograph issued to employees by Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings, or Public Limited Companies

  11. Official Identity Cards issued to Members of Parliament, Legislative Assembly, or Legislative Council

  12. Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card issued by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment

Karnan emphasised that voter identification is mandatory at polling stations and urged citizens to ensure they carry any one of the valid IDs listed. “Every eligible voter must be aware of acceptable identity proofs to ensure smooth polling,” he said, adding that the Election Commission is committed to conducting free, fair, and inclusive elections.

The DEO also appealed to voters to verify their names in the electoral rolls ahead of polling day to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
