Violence erupts at Q News office after MLC's derogatory remarks on Kavitha
Hyderabad: Tensions flared when Telangana Jagruthi members attacked the Q News office and vandalized it in Boduppal on Sunday. This followed Congress MLC Teenmar Mallanna's controversial comments about BRS MLC K. Kavitha. The incident escalated into vandalism and gunfire, leaving one person injured.
The clash was triggered after Mallanna, during a public speech on Saturday, made derogatory comments questioning Kavitha’s connection with Backward Classes (BCs) and mocking her celebration of the Telangana government’s decision to grant 42% reservation for BCs in local body elections. His remarks drew sharp criticism from Telangana Jagruthi, a group aligned with Kavitha.
Angry members of Telangana Jagruthi burst into the Q News office. They broke windows and doors while shouting slogans against Mallanna. In an attempt to disperse the crowd, Mallanna’s security personnel reportedly fired warning shots in the air. However, one bullet allegedly struck a protester, causing injuries. The injured individual was rushed to a nearby hospital, while the police intervened to control the situation.
Medipally police of Rcahakodna police commissionerate reached the spot and further investigation is underway.
