Actor Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Kingdom’ gets new release date: July 4, 2025
Hyderabad: Actor Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming Telugu-language spy thriller Kingdom will now hit theatres on July 4, 2025. The film, originally scheduled for release on May 30, has been postponed due to what the makers described as “recent unforeseen events in the country and the current atmosphere,” which they said made it difficult to move forward with promotional activities.
The announcement was made via social media, where Vijay Deverakonda posted on X (formerly Twitter), “#Kingdom July 04, 2025. Will see you in the cinemas.”
A formal statement from the production team addressed the delay, “We wish to inform that the release of our film Kingdom, originally set for May 30, has been rescheduled to July 4. We explored every possibility to stick to the original date, but recent unforeseen events in the country and the current atmosphere have made it difficult for us to move forward with promotions or celebrations.”
The team added, “We believe this decision will help us present Kingdom in the best possible way, with the creative excellence and spirit it deserves. We truly value your support and hope to receive your love when we meet you at the cinemas on July 4. We're grateful to Dil Raju and Nithin for their understanding and support in making this change possible.”
Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Kingdom is produced by S. Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. The film stars Vijay Deverakonda alongside Bhagyashri Borse and Satyadev. It is intended as the first installment of a planned duology.
The project was announced in January 2023 under the working title VD12, with the official title revealed in February 2025. Filming began in June 2023 and took place across Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Kerala, and Sri Lanka. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and Jomon T. John, and editing by Naveen Nooli.
