Vigilance officials seize two lorries carrying 569 quintals of PDS rice in Sangareddy
HYDERABAD: Officials of the Vigilance and Enforcement Department, Ramachandrapuram unit, in coordination with the local police, intercepted two lorries illegally transporting 569 quintals of rice meant for the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Sangareddy district on October 8, 2025.
Lorries, drivers handed over to Civil Supplies
The vehicles, bearing registration numbers GJ 03 BV 2175 and AP 28 TE 4556, were allegedly diverting government-supplied rice. Both lorries and their drivers were handed over to the Deputy Tahsildar, Civil Supplies, for registering cases under Section 6A of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. The police have been instructed to file criminal cases against the transporters and drivers involved.
Department urges public to report irregularities
In a statement, the Vigilance and Enforcement Department said it remains committed to preventing the leakage of public revenue and the misuse of government funds and natural resources. It urged the public to share information on any irregularities or misuse of government resources with the department.
