After 8-year delay, Uppal flyover likely to open by this Dussehra
Hyderabad: Construction of the Uppal flyover, which had stalled for years due to financial constraints, is now progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by the upcoming Dussehra festival, according to State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
The 8-kilometer flyover, connecting Uppal Ring Road to Narapally on the Yadagirigutta–Bhuvanagiri–Warangal highway, began nearly eight years ago but saw repeated delays. On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy inspected the ongoing work along with Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah and Uppal MLA Bandari Lakshma Reddy.
Speaking during the inspection, the Minister said the project had faced serious setbacks due to lack of funds and other issues. After the current government assumed office, it prioritized the flyover’s completion and held discussions with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to push the project forward.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government replaced the previous contractor with a new one to speed up construction. “With focused efforts and regular monitoring, the work has picked up pace,” he said. The Uppal flyover is considered the second-largest in the city after the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway. Authorities expect to open it to traffic in time for Dussehra.
