Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has received a ₹5 crore grant from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Digital Twin Technology. The project was proposed by Prof. Samrat Sabat and Prof. Siba K. Udgata, with significant contributions from Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna. Prof. Sabat will lead the implementation of the initiative at the AI Research Cluster under the Institution of Eminence (IoE) Interdisciplinary Centre.

The grant will be used to set up key infrastructure for research and training, including a Digital Twin Research Lab, a Training Lab for practical skill development, and a fully equipped auditorium to host training programs and workshops for students and researchers.

“This support from HAL strengthens our capacity to expand research and teaching in emerging technologies,” said Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the University. “The Centre of Excellence will serve as a national resource for innovation and training in digital twin technology. Congratulations to Prof. Samrat Sabat, Prof. Siba Udgata, and Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna for their efforts in bringing this initiative to the University.”

The Centre aims to foster research and interdisciplinary collaboration in digital twin systems, which have growing relevance across sectors including aerospace, healthcare, manufacturing, and smart infrastructure. The University has acknowledged the efforts of the faculty team for securing this strategic grant and advancing its research goals.
