Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad has been ranked fifth among Central Universities in the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2025. It follows Jawaharlal Nehru University, which holds the top position. The University of Hyderabad is the highest-ranked Central University in Telangana and South India.

The IIRF rankings assess institutions on key areas such as student placements, teaching and learning resources, research output, industry engagement, placement support, innovation, and international outlook. The University of Hyderabad’s strong performance across these categories shows its commitment to academic excellence, research, and industry collaboration.

Established in 1974, the University of Hyderabad is a public central research university located in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. The mostly residential campus hosts over five thousand students and around four hundred faculty members. Spanning more than two thousand three hundred acres, the campus is noted for its rich biodiversity, including a wide variety of plants, mammals, reptiles, and birds.

The university offers postgraduate, doctoral, and integrated programs in disciplines such as science, humanities, social sciences, management, and arts. It holds NAAC A accreditation and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance. Admission is highly competitive, based on national entrance examinations.
