Inter first year exams: Typos in question papers of 3 subjects reported

The first-year intermediate public examination in Hyderabad was marred by errors in the question papers of Botany, Mathematics, and Political Science. Students found six errors, including grammatical mistakes and misprints, in the papers. The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education acknowledged the errors and sent corrected versions to all examination centers. The board had previously awarded full marks to all students for a question in the second-year English paper due to concerns over its clarity. Additionally, five students were caught for malpractice during the exam, and nearly 24,000 students were absent.

Hyderabad: Few errors were detected in the first year intermediate public examination held on Tuesday. These errors were related to grammar and misprints.

Students were confused as six errors were found in questions papers of Botany, Mathematics and Political Science subjects.

According to reports, the errors were detected in question number 13 in Botany (Telugu medium), question number 5 in Botany paper – I (English medium), question number 32 and 20 in Political Science paper – I (English and Telugu medium) respectively, and question numbers 4 and 9 in Mathematics paper-IA (Telugu medium).

After receiving the question paper in the exam hall, the students noticed that there were a few typographical errors and misprints in the respective question papers. Subsequently, the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education examined the mistakes and dispatched a list of corrected errors to 1,532 examination centres at around 10.30 am where the examination was underway. After receiving a note from the board, the invigilators made the corrections.

It is pertinent to note that the Board of Intermediate Education had announced that it had decided to award full marks to all the students who attempted question number 7 in second year English paper – II examination conducted on Monday. Several students had raised concerns over the clarity of lines in the question as it was related to the pie chart.

Five students were booked for malpractice with three in Nalgonda, and one each in Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts. Around 23,774 students remained absent for the examination on Tuesday.
