Hyderabad city will play host to Toma Terra — India’s first Tomatina festival in May. Prism Outdoors, the organisers are preparing to make the tomato-throwing festival an unforgettable experience. The food fight festival is scheduled to take place at Experium Eco Park in the city on May 11, 2025. Thousands of ripe and low-quality tomatoes are being stocked up for the upcoming festival.

According to organisers, the Toma Terra fest will be pure madness as the participants can expect live DJ sets, crazy fun zones, a flea market and a variety of food stalls.

The “battle of the tomatoes” seen during Spain’s popular La Tomatina has been customised with a local twist for desi revellers. The price for a basic Toma Terra ticket starts from Rs. 499 and it can cost up to Rs. 3,499.

A similar festival was held at Jal Vihar in 2011. The next planned festival at People’s Plaza was cancelled after the fests drew ire from all quarters. People said wasting precious food must not become a part of our culture for such a frivolous event, especially when we have many starving people in the country.
