ACB arrests Pragathinagar TGSPDCL officer for accepting Rs. 10,000 bribe
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Ranga Reddy Unit, caught A. Gnaneshwar, Assistant Engineer (Operations), Pragathinagar, TGSPDCL, red-handed while accepting a bribe on Wednesday afternoon.
Gnaneshwar was caught at 2:45 p.m. after he allegedly demanded ₹50,000 and accepted ₹10,000 from a complainant in exchange for issuing a work completion order for a 63 kV transformer and installing nine 3-phase meters at the complainant's plot.
According to the ACB, the officer misused his official position by seeking a bribe for performing a public duty. The bribe amount was recovered from him during the operation.
He has been arrested and will be produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. The case is currently under investigation.
The ACB has urged the public to report any bribe demands by government officials by calling the toll-free number 1064. Identities of complainants will be kept confidential.
