Chhattisgarh encounter kills two senior Maoists from Telangana
HYDERABAD: Gunfire echoed once again in the dense Abujhmad forests of Chhattisgarh as security forces engaged Maoists in a fierce encounter on Monday morning. Police killed two senior Telugu Maoists, each carrying a reward of ₹40 lakh, in the exchange.
Police identified the dead as Central Committee member Katta Ramachandra Reddy (alias Raju Dada), 63, and Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy (alias Kosa Dada), 67. Both hailed from Karimnagar district of Telangana, Narayanpur police said.
Weapons recovered after encounter
From the site, police recovered one AK-47 rifle, one INSAS rifle and a grenade launcher. Officials reported that they also seized large quantities of explosives, Maoist literature, and propaganda material during the search.
The operation began after security forces received intelligence on Maoist movement in the Abujhmad forest. Joint teams from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bastar and Kondagaon districts, along with personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF), launched a combing operation.

When the Maoists noticed the advancing forces, they opened fire, triggering a heavy exchange. Police confirmed the recovery of two bodies and said operations are continuing, particularly targeting senior Maoist leaders believed to be operating in the area.
Authorities said intensified combing operations in the region are aimed at dismantling top Maoist leadership.
