Tellapur residents demand immediate action to fix drainage issue on RR7
Hyderabad: Residents of Tellapur have raised concerns over persistent drainage problems near the State Bank of India (SBI) on RR7, which they say have been causing frequent traffic jams and significant inconvenience. Despite several requests to the municipality, the issue remains unresolved, prompting local residents to call on authorities for urgent action.
Eshwaragari Ramana, president of the Tellapur Neighborhood Association (TeNA), told Hyderabad Mail that the association has been requesting repairs for over two years. “RR7 connects Tellapur with Nallagandla, Lingampally, BHEL, and other parts of the city, and is heavily used by local residents. At least 2,000 to 3,000 people pass through this stretch daily. The drainage issue has caused regular traffic congestion, especially during peak hours, with additional difficulties posed by the strong odor,” Ramana said.
He also noted the location of key establishments along the road, including an international school and a liquor shop, which contribute to heavy traffic. “In recent times, there have been accidents due to the worsening condition of the road,” Ramana added.
In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), the Tellapur Neighborhood Association (@TellapurN) echoed these concerns, urging the municipality of Tellapur and the Collector of Sangareddy to take immediate action. The post read, “We have requested @mctellapur authorities multiple times to address the drainage issue near SBI. The drain water on RR7 is causing regular traffic jams. We request @Collector_SRD to instruct officials for immediate action.”
Local residents are calling for prompt intervention to prevent further traffic disruptions and ensure the safety and well-being of commuters.
