Hyderabad: In view of rapid urbanization, and the unavailability of the required area for vegetable cultivation, rising vegetable prices, the Department of Horticulture, Telangana, will conduct a training program on urban farming on February 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The session will occur at the Telangana Horticulture Training Institute, Red Hills, Hyderabad, under the 'Mana Illu Mana Kuragayalu' program.

The program aims to raise awareness about growing high-quality, pesticide-free vegetables on terraces. This initiative supports public health and helps reduce carbon emissions.

Vegetables are essential for providing the vitamins and minerals required for a healthy diet. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) recommends an intake of 300 grams of vegetables per day, including 50 grams of tubers/root vegetables, 50 grams of leafy greens, and 200 grams of other vegetables.
