Telangana student pursuing dental surgery in Texas shot dead
HYDERABAD: An unidentified assailant shot dead a 27-year-old student from Hyderabad, who was pursuing a Master’s degree in Dental Surgery in the United States, in Texas on October 3.
According to information received by the family, Pole Chandra Shekar, son of Pole Jagan Mohan of Teachers Colony, Phase–II, BN Reddy Nagar, went to Texas in 2023 for higher studies. While working part-time at a gas filling station, an unknown person shot him dead while coming to refuel his vehicle around 21.00 hrs (local time), corresponding to 09.00 hrs IST on October 4, 2025. He died on the spot.
Leaders visit family, assure support
Telangana MLAs T. Harish Rao (Siddipet) and D. Sudheer Reddy (LB Nagar) visited the bereaved family between 14.00 hrs and 14.25 hrs on Saturday. They expressed condolences and assured the family that efforts were underway to bring Chandra Shekar’s body back to India at the earliest.
Police yet to identify shooter
Officials in Texas are investigating the incident. The identity and motive of the attacker are yet to be confirmed. Indian consulate authorities are coordinating with local law enforcement to facilitate the repatriation process.
