Hyderabad: The Telangana government has ordered a widespread transfer of senior IPS and IAS officers, impacting key positions in law enforcement and administration. The reshuffle was announced hours after Shivadhar Reddy was named the new Director General of Police for Telangana. The Telangana government released an order transferring 23 IPS officers and 6 IAS officers, with several key appointments affecting law enforcement and administration across the state.

Key Police Appointments

In a significant change for Hyderabad city, C.V. Anand (IPS 1991) has been moved from the role of Police Commissioner and posted as the new Special Chief Secretary for the Home Department. V.C. Sajjanar (IPS 1996), the Managing Director of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), will assume the role of Commissioner of Police for Hyderabad.

Ravi Gupta (IPS 1990) has been transferred from the post of Special Chief Secretary to the Home Department. He will now serve as the Executive Vice-Chairman and Director General of the Centre for Good Governance. Shikha Goel (IPS 1994) has been appointed as the Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement. She will retain an additional charge as Director of the TG Cyber Security Bureau. Y. Nagi Reddy (IPS 1997) has been named the new Managing Director of TSRTC, and Vikram Singh Mann (IPS 1998) will replace him as the Director-General of Telangana Disaster Response and Fire Services.

Other notable police postings include Charu Sinha (IPS 1996) taking additional charge as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and Dr. Anil Kumar (IPS 1996) being posted as Additional Director General of Police for Operations of Greyhounds and Octopus. Devendra Singh Chauhan, IPS (1997), Principal Secretary to the Government, CAF and CS Department and Ex-Officio Commissioner, Civil Supplies and HFAC VC and MD, Civil Supplies Corporation, and Controller of Legal Metrology, is transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Multizone II.

Swati Lakra, IPS (1995), Additional Director General of Police, Organization and Home Guards, Telangana, Hyderabad, is placed in full additional charge of the post of Director General, Special Protection Force, Telangana, Hyderabad.

Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, IPS (1995), Additional Director General of Police (L and O), Telangana, Hyderabad, has been placed in full additional charge of the post of Additional Director General of Police (Personnel), Telangana, Hyderabad, in place of Anil Kumar, IPS (1996), who has been transferred.

Hyderabad City police restructuring

The Hyderabad city police structure also saw changes with new appointments to the Crime, Law and Order, and West Zone posts. The Hyderabad police new appointments across zones include Tafseer Iqubal (2008 batch) appointed as Joint Commissioner (Law and Order), M. Srinivasulu (2006 batch) becomes Additional Commissioner (Crimes), and Ch. Srinivas (2018 batch) takes charge of the West Zone as Deputy Commissioner.

Civil administration changes

The reshuffle also affected several IAS officers. M. Raghunandan Rao (IAS 2002) has been transferred from the Agriculture Department and posted as the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes. He will also hold full additional charge as the Commissioner of Transport.

K. Surendra Mohan (IAS 2006) has been moved to the post of Secretary for the Agriculture and Co-operation Department. K. Haritha (IAS 2013) has been posted as the Collector and District Magistrate of Rajanna Sircilla district, replacing Sandeep Kumar Jha (IAS 2014), who is now the Special Secretary for the TR and B Department.

It is learnt that Sircilla Collector Sandeep Jha was shunted out due to a protocol issue. Commercial Taxes Commissioner M Haritha IAS in Sandeep Jha's place. M. Haritha, IAS (2013), Special Secretary to the Government, Education Department, is transferred and posted as Collector & District Magistrate, Rajanna Sircilla, vice Sri Sandeep Kumar Jha, IAS (2014), who has been transferred.

The orders, issued by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, affect key positions in the police department, the home department, and various corporations.
