For May 28, an orange alert has been issued for Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Vikarabad, and Sangareddy districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain. A yellow alert continues for Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Medak, and Kamareddy, with heavy rain expected in isolated places. The IMD has also warned of gusty winds across all districts on May 28.

Meanwhile, Telangana Weatherman, a popular weather observer on X (formerly Twitter), reported that heavy rains have already started in the northern and central districts. “Stay alert,” he said, warning that intense showers are expected to move towards Hyderabad by evening.

Earlier updates from the Telangana Weatherman noted that “intense rain action” began across Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Jangaon, and Bhadradri. Rain is expected to reach Hyderabad after two hours, he added.

“Monsoon onset spell ahead for Hyderabad city today,” he said, forecasting widespread moderate to heavy downpours between late afternoon and midnight. Some areas of the city could receive 40–60 mm of rainfall. He also warned of heavy rainfall across parts of east, central, west, and south Telangana today, with some areas likely to receive 80–100 mm. The intensity may be comparable to the rain event on May 21.
