Telangana PCB issues warning to industries over odour complaints from Bachupally, Mallampet

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) has warned industries that stringent action will be taken against those failing to address environmental concerns. This follows complaints of unpleasant odours from the Bachupally and Mallampet areas. In response, a meeting was held with industry representatives from Kazipally and Gaddapotharam on March 21, 2025, at 3:30 pm.

The meeting, chaired by TGPCB Joint Chief Environmental Engineer (JCEE) RC Puram, was attended by Senior Environmental Engineers (SEE), Sub-Engineers (SES), and Executive Engineers (EE) from RC Puram. Officials reviewed the ongoing odour issues and reminded industries of their obligation to implement effective odour control measures and continuously monitor volatile organic compound (VOC) levels.

During the meeting, officials shared findings from recent inspections of several industries and discussed necessary precautionary steps. Industry representatives outlined actions being taken to mitigate odour emissions.

The Industry Association was urged to establish stricter vigilance, including patrol teams led by senior officials. In addition, all industries were instructed to ensure that a responsible person is present at the plant during evening and night shifts to handle any corrective actions promptly.
