Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and former Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led Telangana government, accusing it of driving away industries due to ‘incompetent governance.’ He claimed that the state, which was once a top investment destination under BRS rule, is now losing major projects to neighbouring states like Gujarat.

Kaynes semiconductor shifts to Gujarat

KTR highlighted the exit of Kaynes Technology, a semiconductor firm that had committed Rs. 2,800 crore in investment and promised 2,000 jobs for Telangana youth. He alleged that due to the ‘reckless policies and lack of responsiveness’ of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government, the company moved its project to Gujarat.

Recalling how the BRS government had successfully convinced Kaynes to choose Telangana over Karnataka by swiftly allocating land near Foxconn in Kongara Kalan, Ranga Reddy district, KTR lamented that the Congress administration’s ‘corruption and inefficiency’ had forced the firm to leave.

From auto-pilot to auto-destruct mode

KTR compared the previous BRS government’s industrial growth strategy to an ‘auto-pilot mode,’ where Telangana emerged as a preferred destination for global investors. However, he claimed that under the current regime, the state has shifted to ‘auto-destruct mode,’ with industries exiting due to policy paralysis and a lack of vision.

"’Brand Hyderabad’ and ‘Brand Telangana’ were built over a decade with the relentless efforts of the BRS, but the Congress government has tarnished it within months," KTR said. He accused the government of ignoring industrial retention and focusing only on commissions and political survival.

In a sharp criticism, KTR alleged that the Congress government’s sole agenda is to loot Telangana’s wealth and transfer it to Delhi leaders. He claimed that instead of fostering development, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has pawned Telangana’s interests to Delhi bosses to secure his position.

The BRS leader warned that the Kaynes exit is just the beginning and more companies may follow unless the government changes its approach. "If Revanth Reddy does not wake up and prioritize industrial growth, Telangana’s economy will suffer irreversible damage," said KTR.

Further, KTR urged the government to revive investor confidence by ensuring transparent policies and swift decision-making, as was the norm during the BRS tenure with initiatives like TS-iPASS.
