Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister handed over appointment letters to 244 newly recruited Assistant Executive Engineers and 199 Junior Technical Officers at Jalasoudha. Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary of Irrigation Rahul Bojja, Secretary Prashanth Patil, and Engineer-in-Chief Anil Kumar were present at the event.

Following the ceremony, Revanth Reddy held a review meeting at Jalasoudha to assess the status of pending irrigation projects. He directed that the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, named after Sudini Jaipal Reddy, be completed on a priority basis up to Uddandapur within 18 months. He asked officials to draw up a detailed action plan to achieve this timeline.

He also instructed that the Koilsagar Lift Irrigation Project be completed by June next year. The Mahatma Gandhi Kalwakurthy Lift, Jawahar Nettempadu Lift, and Rajiv Bheema Lift projects are to be completed by December this year. The Chief Minister reviewed the status of these projects and asked for details on the funding needed to complete them.

Revanth Reddy reiterated the importance of securing Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna waters. He noted that around 70 percent of the Krishna basin lies within Telangana’s territory, while only 30 percent is in Andhra Pradesh. He said the state must assert its claim to a 70 percent share before the Tribunal and added that Telangana should push for a greater upstream allocation to compensate for the 90 TMC being drawn by Andhra Pradesh from the Godavari basin through the Pattiseema project. He directed that these issues be brought to the notice of the Krishna River Management Board.

He also highlighted the need for strong legal and technical arguments regarding water allocations for all Krishna basin projects that were under construction at the time of Telangana’s formation. He reminded officials that water use permissions must be aligned with the Government Orders issued when the Palamuru-Rangareddy project was launched.
