Heavy rains forecast across Telangana; Cyberabad Police issue advisory
Hyderabad: A weather advisory issued by Telangana-based weatherman Balaji, known on social media platform X (@balaji25_t), has warned of scattered intense rains in several districts across the state.
According to the update, heavy rainfall is expected in Mancherial, Asifabad, Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Khammam, and Mahabubabad over the next few hours. Hyderabad is likely to receive moderate rain by evening.
Balaji also stated that his primary focus from today will be on North and East Telangana, as a strong low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall until July 26. Affected districts include Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Jagitial, Hanmakonda, Warangal, Mahabubabad, and Khammam. Other areas, including Hyderabad, may receive moderate to isolated heavy showers.
Flood loading in the Godavari basin is also likely between July 26 and 29. On July 22, widespread rainfall was reported across Telangana, excluding the GHMC area and Yadadri–Bhongir district. Some parts of Vikarabad, Sangareddy, and Nalgonda received up to 100 mm of rain.
Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Police have issued an advisory urging caution due to the forecast of heavy rains. In view of potential traffic disruptions and safety concerns, companies in the area are advised to consider implementing work-from-home arrangements for the day.
"Moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected by evening or night. Please plan your travel accordingly," said the Cyberabad Traffic Police in their statement.
