Scattered thunderstorms expected in Telangana as heat peaks
Hyderabad: Telangana continues to reel under intense heat and humidity on June 7, 2025, with scattered thunderstorms likely to provide some relief later today.
Weather forecaster Telangana Weatherman (@balaji25_t) issued an update warning of a hot and humid day across the state, especially in northern and eastern districts, where temperatures are expected to reach 41–43°C. Hyderabad is forecast to record daytime temperatures between 37–38°C.
The forecaster also noted that thunderstorms are expected to increase from today, particularly in southern and western Telangana during the evening and night. Hyderabad could see isolated to scattered storms later in the day.
On June 6, he had issued a “Break Monsoon Heat Alert,” stating that Telangana is currently in the peak of the heat spell. He cautioned that areas in the east and north, marked as "red zones," would experience further temperature rise and high humidity. He also reiterated the likelihood of scattered intense storms in the evening and night due to the prevailing heat.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places across Telangana for June 7. On June 8, similar conditions are expected, but restricted to isolated areas.
Additionally, IMD has issued a yellow alert for gusty winds (30–40 km/h) at isolated locations across all districts of the state on both June 7 and 8.
