Telangana HC dismisses writ appeals; Group-1 exams set to begin on October 21

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has dismissed writ appeals challenging the order regarding the Group-1 Mains examination. On October 18, 2024, the Division Bench rejected the appeals aimed at overturning the Single Judge's order issued by Justice Pulla Karthik on October 15, 2024.

The Single Bench had previously refused to cancel the Group-1 Preliminary Examination, a decision that was contested in the writ appeals. As a result of this dismissal, the Group-1 Mains examination will proceed as scheduled, commencing on October 21, 2024.

Earlier, a group of candidates had filed a petition in the Telangana High Court contesting the recent verdict concerning the Group-1 Mains examination. The petitioners, consisting of five candidates, argued that the Single Judge did not adequately consider the erroneous questions present in the final answer key of the Group-1 Preliminary Examination. They contend that the removal of these incorrect questions could significantly impact the merit list, thereby affecting their chances of qualifying for the Mains examination.

The appeal highlighted that the Single Judge failed to recognize demonstrably wrong answers in the final key and erroneously suggested that the power of judicial review does not apply in such cases. The candidates pointed out that some questions were ambiguous, allowing for multiple answers, and that the correct options were missing.

Justice Pulla Karthik had previously dismissed two writ petitions that claimed the preliminary test was conducted in violation of established norms.
