Hyderabad: Expressing concern over the alleged use of AI content to spread “false narratives” about the development of 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, the Telangana government on Monday filed a petition in the High Court, seeking action against those responsible.

On April 5, during a high-level meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy flagged the spread of alleged misinformation that could hinder the development of IT infrastructure on the contentious land abutting the University of Hyderabad campus. He also directed the officials to initiate legal action against the alleged misuse of AI to discuss the ongoing Kancha Gachibowli even as the government asserted that it is the legal owner of the land.

The meeting also discussed that Union Minister Kishan Reddy, former Minister Jagadish Reddy, social media influencer Dhruv Rathee, and film celebrities such as John Abraham, Dia Mirza, and Raveena Tandon shared the AI-generated images and videos, unintentionally spreading misinformation.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Dia Mirza refuted Revanth Reddy’s allegations that she used fake and AI generated images to amplify the Kancha Gachibowli issue. Taking to X, the Hyderabad-born actress claimed that she didn’t post a single AI generated image or video.

Previously, some reports claimed that the chief minister Revanth Reddy had received a proposal to construct a sprawling 2,000-acre eco park, featuring the world's tallest watchtower. The proposal also noted that the eco park project would be built on the contentious university land. This development caused uproar among students who dismissed it as a ‘diversion tactic’.
