Telangana govt to make crucial announcement on Group-1 Mains today
Hyderabad: As Group-1 aspirants’ protest rocked Hyderabad on Saturday, the government seems to be taking a cautious approach in dealing with the thorny issue.
Hours after the chief minister Revanth Reddy announced that the Group-1 Mains examinations would be held as scheduled, the state government machinery and the Congress huddled up late night to discuss the ongoing protests and likely political fallout.
Several ministers including Damodar Rajanarasimha, Ponnam Prabhakar and D. Sridhar Babu discussed the current situation and demands of aspirants at a late-night meeting at the ministers' quarters in Hyderabad.
Amid intensified protests against the Group-1 Mains exams, the state government is expected to make a crucial announcement today. Notably, aspirants are demanding the state government to reschedule the Mains exam while protesting the contentious GO 29 related to recruitment and reservation policies.
On Saturday, Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Jitender stated that elaborate security arrangements were made for the Group-1 Mains examinations, which will be held from October 21 to 27. He also advised the agitating candidates to take their grievances to the Supreme Court and avoid causing inconvenience to the people by staging protests on roads in Ashok Nagar.
