Telangana Governor gives nod for action against KTR in Formula E race
Hyderabad: Telangana Governor reportedly given the green signal to book a case against Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) working president, former minister, and MLA K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR).
The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Authority (MA&UD) filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in October about violations related to the Formula E car race in Hyderabad and funds.
In the complaint, it was alleged that huge financial expenditure of Rs 46 crores plus the tax amount of Rs9 crores was paid from the HMDA resources, even before the agreement was signed and without obtaining the concurrence of the HMDAs Board of directors as well as that of finance department of the state government.
The ACB wrote to the government requesting permission to register an FIR against then Special Chief Secretary of the MA&UD, Arvind Kumar, then Chief Engineer, and KTR, the previous government’s Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development. Reliable sources say the Governor gave permission after legal advice, reported Eenadu.
KTR: I'll go to jail for two months and come back stronger
Earlier in November, KTR addressed the allegations. He said, "If anyone intends to imprison me out of political vendetta for bringing investments to Hyderabad, creating an incredible brand for the city, and generating employment through these investments, I won't back down."
KTR clarified that around Rs 40 crore was spent by the government on the Formula E event, responding to allegations of financial mismanagement. He explained the race was part of a week-long Telangana E-Mobility Week series, attracting numerous companies to consider investing in Telangana.
He said, "If they want to file a case, let them. I'll go to jail for two months and come back stronger, ready to continue the fight for Telangana's future."
